Enterprise Identity Management – Integrating Physical & Logical Access Security

One Employee, One Identity, One Badge

As more and more regulations are enacted regarding security, organizations have to better control the identities created and maintained within their systems.  SecureNet and CA are committed to helping our customers achieve the goal of 'one employee, one identity, one badge.'  This concept allows our customers to be certain that: each employee has a single identity within their entire IT environment; each employee has only one security badge (which works at every facility the company operates); each employee has access only to those assets, physical and logical, to which access is authorized.

This webcast focuses on the benefits our solution delivers to companies involved in the energy industry.  However, many of these benefits also apply to other industries.  We can help you comply with the following regulations:

  • FERC/NERC

  • HSPD-12

  • Sarbox

  • HIPAA

  • GLBA

SecureNet, Inc. Unveiled the Convergence of Physical and Logical Access Security at CA World 2005

Las Vegas, NV - November 13-17, 2005

SecureNet, Inc. exhibited at CA World 2005, where the company successfully demonstrated how physical and logical access security can be integrated. SecureNet used CA Identity Manager paired with NPower DNA from Open Options to deliver a comprehensive enterprise identity solution that automatically provisions access to logical (applications, databases and networks) and physical (doors) assets. Attendees who visited the booth received a photo ID (containing information pulled from a database of attendees without any data entry) printed on an integrated Fargo card printer. Attendees were then shown how physical access levels are automatically assigned to cardholders during the printing process. Additionally, attendees were shown how the total solution strongly enforces the concept of “one employee, one identity, one credential.”

SecureNet likewise demonstrated how eTrust Single Sign-On is a valuable addition to the total enterprise identity solution. Attendees took their new photo ID to a separate workstation, presented it to a reader, and were granted access to the workstation. Upon removal of the ID, they were automatically logged off the computer. Single Sign-On (SSO) adds an important layer of security to the enterprise identity solution by helping organizations secure their workstations. Employees are required to use their security credential to access all logical assets. Employees are also required to have their security credentials with them at all times. These two rules ensure that workstations are secured when an employee is away from his/her desk, and aids organizations in complying with HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.

Increased security is only one benefit of CA’s eTrust SSO solution. SSO customers can also realize a significant decrease in helpdesk costs. SSO provides end users with the ability to reset their password if forgotten, which often reduces calls to IT helpdesks by as much as 40%. A third benefit is increased productivity. When employees first log in to their workstations, they access one or two applications they know they will need. As the day progresses, they realize that they need to access different logical assets, and they stop what they are doing to try and remember additional passwords as they log in to these assets. With SSO, employees are automatically logged in to all of the logical assets to which they have access. This reduces the amount of down time for each employee every day.

To learn more about the comprehensive enterprise identity solution SecureNet delivers and how it can help your organization comply with a multitude of regulations (HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, HSPD-12, etc.), please contact SecureNet at sales@securenetinc.com.
